OUR DOCTORS
David W. Eisen, MD

I'm a practicing family physician with active clinical and teaching interests in Obstetrics, Newborn Care and Women's Health. I have an academic practice in association with North York General Hospital and the University of Toronto.

 

I teach students from other programs including the Ryerson University Midwifery program. I have chaired the Family Medicine Obstetrics Division at NYGH, and served on all of the Maternal Newborn committees there. I serve NYGH as Chief, Department of Family and Community Medicine. I have served the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario in several capacities.

Karen Hershenfield, MD
I graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 2007. I completed my residency and low-risk Obstetrical fellowship training in Toronto. I am involved in teaching medical students and residents in our office and at North York General Hospital. I hold the appointment of Lecturer at the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine and am an active staff at North York General Hospital

  

Joanne Laine-Gossin, MD

I am a community family physician and am part of a teaching practice affiliated with North York General Hospital and the University of Toronto. I provide a wide range of family medicine care, ranging from shared obstetrical care and pediatrics to geriatrics.  

 

I have a special interest in Quality Improvement and am a Quality Improvement lead for the Department of Family and Community Medicine at North York General Hospital and the University of Toronto.  I am also part of the North York Family Health Team and am pleased to offer services provided by our allied health personnel. I am part of the North York After-Hours Clinic, located at Bayview Village Mall, lower level and share in providing after hours care to my patients.

Together we form a team that works to provide quality care to our patients. Your preventative and acute health care needs are our priority.

Kimberly Wintemute, MD

I finished my Residency at the University of Toronto in 2002. I provide family medicine care that includes obstetrics, home visits, and palliative care.

I am an assistant professor for the University of Toronto and I'm passionate about teaching and ongoing learning. I sometimes have students with me in the office. I am currently a Primary Care Co-Lead for Choosing Wisely Canada, a national campaign to help clinicians and patients engage in conversations to reduce unnecessary tests, procedures and treatments. 

I was Medical Director of North York Family Health Team from 2008-2016 and I was incredibly honoured to be the recipient of the 2014 Regional Family Physician of the year award from the Ontario College of Family Physicians. 

David G. White, MD

I completed my medical degree and residency at UofT. I joined the Faculty of Medicine in 1977 when I began practice in Sioux Lookout.

 

In 1980, I joined the Teaching Unit at Toronto Western In 1986 I moved to Mount Sinai Hospital. During this period, I served as Director of Undergraduate Education in Family Medicine, and Director of Electives in the Faculty.

 

I was Chief of Family Medicine at NYGH from 1999 to 2012. I am a Professor in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2014 and serve as Vice Chair for Family Doctor Leadership. I served as President of the CCFP in 2017. I maintain a busy community practice in North York.

Erika North, CCPA

I completed my Physician Assistant training at University of Toronto in 2013 after 10 years as a Registered Massage Therapist.

 

I have been practicing at NFMN for three years in conjunction with the six doctors as part of our team based care model. I see patients with diabetes, hypertension, COPD, amongst other chronic diseases as well as provide same day access for acute issues. I aim to ensure patients have preventative screening completed through cancer screening visits, such as pap smears. I am the lead of the Get Moving Program, an exercise course tailored to motivate patients to become physically active.

WELCOME TO OUR PRACTICE

We are a community teaching practice, affiliated with North York General Hospital and the University of Toronto.  In addition to regular office visits, we provide a number of services outside the office, including obstetrics, same day appointments for urgent care, after-hours clinic coverage and some home visits.

We are part of the North York Family Health Team, and as such offer a variety of services, including chronic disease management, social work services, chiropody, dietary expertise, smoking cessation, cancer survivorship, and many other programs.  For a full description of our NYFHT please visit this link:http://www.nyfht.com/index.php

We are also involved in Quality Improvement and Research, and participate in a variety of projects that enhance both patients’ and providers’ care and satisfaction.

Lara Rosenberg, MD

I practice comprehensive family medicine as part of the North York Family Health Team and have a special interest in maternity care. I am currently the Chair of Family Medicine Obstetrics at North York General Hospital. I enjoy teaching residents and medical students in our community office and at the hospital.

I earned my medical degree from the University of Ottawa in 2008 and then completed my Family Medicine residency at the University of Toronto. I then obtained my fellowship in low risk obstetrics at the University of Toronto.
